Providing Cancer Patients with a Thanksgiving Meal

For the 9th straight year, the Dean Snell Cancer Foundation provided cancer patients at New England Cancer Specialists in Topsham with all the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner. Nine years ago, we provided 15 baskets. The need has grown throughout the years and we are now up to 25 baskets.

Last Thursday, volunteers from SERVPRO of Bath / Brunswick met DSCF board members at Hannaford to pick up all the supplies and delivered them to NECS in Topsham. At NECS, the food supplies were separated and loaded into reusable shopping bags for easy transportation.

The bags were overflowing with turkey, potatoes, onions, stuffing mix, carrots, green beans, peas, corn, cranberry sauce, apples, butter and frosted cookies. Tins of snacks and maple syrup were donated by Big Al and were added to each bag. Each bag was topped off with a $50 gas card and a $20 Hannaford gift card.

This Thanksgiving we are thankful for all of our volunteers and supporters. Without all of you, the work the we do to help cancer patients would not be possible. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
