The Dean Snell Cancer Foundation has been awarded a $6,000 grant from the Alfred M. Senter Fund to be utilized towards food cards for patients in 2021. These funds help in reducing food insecurity for those patients struggling to make ends meet due to their increased medical expenses and/or the reduction of income from being unable to continue to work. Many patients also find their food budget increasing due to the need for special diets and protein drinks.
The Alfred M. Senter Fund is a private charitable trust established by Alfred Senter, who was the owner of the former Senter’s Department Store in Brunswick. It was his wish that public charities benefiting from this fund be involved in promoting the cultural, educational, environmental, and general health and welfare of the inhabitants of Brunswick, Durham, Lisbon, Harpswell, Topsham, West Bath and Bath. The fund seeks to support charities for which small grants will make a significant difference.
